A loose continuation of the “Culture Network” meeting, which took place during the Biennale WRO 2017 DRAFT SYSTEMS.
“Cells” in the name of the meeting, is a word referring equally to the cultural reception of various derived from biology concepts regarding the perception of organisms as a “community” of cells, and traditional practice of various types of oppositional and anti-system organizations and movements that often acted as less or more structured federations of independent, but efficiently communicating, units (which was to ensure autonomy, efficiency and resistance to external destructive stimuli).
So “Cells of Culture” is a compact panel discussion and a series of presentations on autonomous and valuable practices within the technological framework of culture – this time we focus not on networking, but on what individual Cells can work out (and what to share). In view of the prolongation of the list of local and global problems threatening the basic determinants building the significance of cultural activities, we try to get back to the basics: practices that we consider to be valuable and experiences that we can share.
